Ecumaster CAN IR Temperature Camera
The Ecumaster CAN IR Temperature Camera is a sophisticated, contactless thermal imaging sensor designed for high-level motorsport data acquisition. Engineered to provide real-time thermal mapping, this device allows engineers to monitor the surface temperature of critical components—most notably tyres and brake discs—across 16 individual points simultaneously. By transmitting this data over a high-speed CAN BUS network, it enables the creation of a live "heat map" on display units like the Ecumaster ADU, providing invaluable insight into chassis balance, aero performance, and braking efficiency.
Available in two specialized versions (Tyre and Brake), the camera utilizes infrared technology to deliver precise readings without physical contact. Housed in a bespoke CNC-machined aluminium enclosure with an IP67 rating, it is built to survive the extreme heat and debris of a wheel well environment.
Technical Authority & Key Features
-
16-Point Multi-Zone Sensing: Captures 16 temperature data points across the width of the target, allowing for the analysis of temperature gradients (e.g., inner, middle, and outer tyre temps).
-
Application-Specific Versions:
-
Tyre Version: Optimised for 0°C to 255°C (up to 300°C peak) with a wide 120° x 25° Field of View (FOV) for full tread coverage.
-
Brake Version: Optimised for 0°C to 1020°C with a narrower 60° x 25° FOV for focused disc monitoring.
-
-
High-Speed Transmission: Fully configurable CAN stream with a frequency of up to 50Hz, providing the granular data needed for high-speed cornering analysis.
-
Contactless Precision: Offers an accuracy tolerance of ±3°C, ensuring laboratory-grade data in a rugged racing package.
-
Advanced Emissivity Calibration: User-adjustable emissivity settings (e.g., 0.97 for rubber) via the Ecumaster Light Client, ensuring accurate readings across different surface materials.
-
Seamless Multi-Camera Integration: Fully accessible CAN ID configuration allows for the use of four or more cameras (e.g., one per wheel) without message clashing.
-
ADU Visualisation: Integrates natively with the Ecumaster ADU to show a real-time thermal model of the tyre or disc on the dashboard.
