The Ecumaster EGT Sensor Boss/Mount is the critical hardware interface for securing K-Type thermocouples into an exhaust manifold. This assembly, often referred to as a "compression fitting," consists of a weld-on bung, a threaded body, and a compression olive. It is engineered to provide a gas-tight seal at temperatures exceeding 1200°C and pressures common in high-boost turbocharged applications.

The M10x1 standard is the official specification for the Ecumaster Professional EGT (Inconel sheath) sensors, while 1/8" NPT variants are frequently used for compatibility with WHP and third-party motorsport sensors.

• Adjustable Immersion Depth: The compression olive allows you to set the probe depth precisely. For the most accurate data, the sensor tip should be positioned in the center of the exhaust gas stream.

• High-Speed Thermal Stability: Designed to house 3mm or 5mm probes, providing a rigid mounting point that prevents the vibration fatigue often responsible for "jumping" EGT readings or sensor failure.

• Gas-Tight Metal-to-Metal Seal: Once the compression nut is tightened, the olive deforms around the sensor sheath, creating a permanent, leak-proof mechanical bond.

• Corrosion Resistant Materials:

  • 304/316 Stainless Steel: Superior for stainless manifolds, providing long-term resistance to heat-cycling and moisture.

  • Mild Steel: Common for cast iron or mild steel headers, allowing for easier welding with standard MIG/TIG setups.

• Compatibility: Native support for the Ecumaster EGT to CAN module, EMU Black, and ADU logging strategies.

Installation Best Practices

• Manifold Placement: Position the boss approximately 50mm to 100mm from the cylinder head exhaust flange for individual cylinder monitoring.

• Angle of Entry: Install the sensor at an angle that prevents moisture/condensation from collecting inside the bung, which can lead to probe corrosion over time.

• Sealing Note: Never use PTFE tape or plastic sealants on EGT mounts. Exhaust temperatures will vaporize these materials instantly. The mechanical compression of the olive provides all necessary sealing.

• Tightening: Once the depth is set and the nut is tightened, the probe is permanently "locked" in that olive. To change depth later, a new olive and nut are typically required.
